Student Teaching
spring 2022
Overview
For Student Teaching, I had 2 8-week placements, first at Centerville High School with Julie Armstrong, and second at Berry Intermediate in the Lebanon City Schools District with Abby Hanser.

At CHS, I worked with grades 9-12 in 2 Art 1 classes and 2 Art 3 classes, as well as got to observe 1 AP Art class.
In Art 1, I helped facilitate a drawing basics unit and completed a final value drawing. Also with this group, I completed my edTPA lesson, where students completed a tissue paper monotyping project inspired by Maya Freelon.
In Art 3, I helped with introduction to figure drawing, as well as taught acrylic painting and oil painting.
On top of teaching each class individual lesson plans, I presented powerpoints on Black History Month and Women's History Month to every class.

At Berry, I worked with 5th + 6th graders in a TAB (Teaching Artistic Behavior) classroom which is a choice-based influenced approach where the philosophy is that the child is the artist. In this classroom, students have access to different 'studios' around the room consisting of clay, painting, printmaking, fibers, drawing, collage, and sculpture.
I taught students my Encircling lesson, adapted from high school. The Encircling lesson is an arts integration lesson with science + nature, inspired by Hilma af Klint.
